Defrag and Clone for PowerPC and Intel Macs

Stellar Data Recovery of New Jersey launched two new Mac utility programs at Macworld 2011 to add to their hard drive recovery repertoire. Stellar Disk Defrag allows the creation of a bootable DVD so users can defragment and optimize drives running Mac OS X 10.4 or later, while Stellar Drive Clone creates a bootable backup or disk image of an entire hard drive or volume, making it easy to troubleshoot or restore the main drive and helping to prevent data loss.

Both programs have the ability to create bootable DVDs with a minimal system on them, offering the option of booting from the optical drive. Drive Defrag let the user defragment whole hard drives, volumes of a hard drive or just individual files, as well as system metadata files. It can also gather all free space into a contiguous block, a feature that is invaluable to audio and video professionals.

Drive Clone offers versatile options for backing up and restoring data, including cloning one volume of a hard drive onto another volume, cloning the entire hard drive to an external, cloning to a disk image or folder, or cloning to a network drive. Users can then restore from any of these sources whenever needed.

Stellar Drive Defrag sells for $39 and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher. Stellar Drive Clone also costs $39 but can be used with OS X 10.3.9 or later. Trial versions of both products are available.
